Michael Franti & Spearhead Rocked the House!!
I must say, I'm not a big fan of Grupo Frontera first and foremost. I did, however, like a handful of his songs. Their performance felt so personal, and as always, they did not disappoint us. It was exhilarating to see him run through the floor crowd and get up into the stands for sing-alongs. Not very many musicians work the crowd like he does. After spending the last hour on our feet dancing to the reggae-rock-funk that is Michael Franti & Spearhead, Jon is very talented on the guitar. I give him that. Grupo Frontera comes out, and the whole vibe did a 180. Me personally, I enjoy going to concerts to rock out to the music, but I felt as if I was quickly put into a jazz club where you go and sip wine and relax. If you're a hard-core Grupo Frontera fan and appreciate his style of laid-back, ballad-type songs, you may not enjoy Michael Franti's performance. The only reason I give it 3 stars is that the two styles of performances were very different. If you love music and are open-minded to different styles and new sounds, then you have to make sure you get there in time to catch the opening performance. So I went to this concert for Michael Franti & Spearhead.
